"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,"

Its branches droop somberly to the floor

Its bristles scattered around its base

Lowering the sparkling and glowing bolbs

As the globes are unhinged and the lights untwind from its canopies

Its once merry and strong scent, a mellow reminder to one's sense of the season

Up top its leafy branches, the angelic decoration is taken down from its pedestal and tucked into a box filled with the other decorations, awaiting another year

The tree, a ragged and stiff sight

Cloaked ina red blanket around its fickle trunk

Once covered with wrapped presents and bows

Its bristles continue to shake the floor like dried and shrivled tears

It is lowered with care,

carried by two loving and bundled up people who glance at each other with quiet smiles but meloncholy eyes

The tree is proped up on their shoulders and squeezed through the door with silent procession

Leaving an empty space once full of life an vigor and clear
