Confide
Talk to me; confide in me
And I will listen.
As you rage, as you struggle and muster
As you purge and unpack
Your soul in so many words -
So many words
That mean so little.
Don’t fight it. You mustn't.
You cannot help yourself;
It all comes out in spurts;
In impassioned word salads
And little ashamed glances,
Shirking from the rebuke.
But I just listen to your words
And wait until you are done,
Satisfied and satiated
Flustered and undignified
You straighten your shirt
And adjust your collar
And then you leave
Without looking back,
Until you are alone, once more,
Ready to talk.
And I will be waiting
Where I always am
Ready to listen.
