I am from barbie dolls to textbooks
from faithful friends to sand between my toes
from family gatherings to ham and potatoes
from soap and bubbles to fresh apple pie
from the good and the bad
from good morning wake ups
to goodnight kisses
from family movie nights
to helping cook in the kitchen
from fairy tales to the smell of popcorn
from sounds of an ice cream truck to
running barefoot in the yard
from the clothes on my back
to giving a helping hand to those in need
from the do this to the don’t do that
from the smiles and the frowns
from the hay of the broom
to the grass in the yard
from the handkerchief my
grandfather kept in his pocket
to the scratching from my dogs at the door
I am from the memories that cloud my mind
