"Used to"
Used To…
Used to be best friends with the kind backseat,
learned to rely on the maroon machine.
Used to go from one side, to the next,
always on the move.
Used to be used to stopping and going,
over and over again,
Never staying in one place for more than a few months,
sometimes only weeks, as if I was a traveling cloud.
Used to watch the glowing stars outside of the window,
hoping to see one shoot by to make a wish,
never getting the chance.
Used To see the street lights flickering past,
it looked like a rocket.
Used to see pouring rain,
feel boiling sun.
Used to blast music from the stereo,
It vibrated everything almost like an airplane.
Used to stay in Georgia, and then Texas,
hotels to apartments and back again.
Used to be all alone,
with just my poofy cat, and my dog with the bent tail.
Used to have a hamster, but he ran away in Georgia.
Used to have a snake, but she froze in Connecticut.
Was used to everything leaving me and not coming back,
I did that too.
Used to have one,
then had two.
Used to be new, alone again,
then met three.
Now I am where the seasons change,
I can finally feel the crisp, cool air of autumn,
the sparkling, freezing snow.
Used to not be used to staying in one place.
Used to have no responsibilities-
that changed.
Everything changed.
But life changed for the better,
making sure to shape everything.

This poem is about my childhood, moving back and forth a lot. I hope people understand that life goes on after tough times.
