Fear of the Waves
You are like the ocean;
a calming, deep blue,
that brings refreshment to us all
as we submerge under the water.
You are like the sunset on the beach;
a view we look forward to seeing
as it sinks into the sea,
leaving behind a sweet grapefruit color in the sky.
You are like that ice-cream place at the shore,
that we all have to go to
and order the same thing we always do,
because we don’t want to ever change.
And when a hurricane comes in,
you know exactly how to handle it;
how to clean up the destruction,
and make things brand new.
But when a tsunami comes in,
you hide under the waves,
afraid of what we might say
to you when it’s over.

This poem is about a girl who is very loved by others; who gets comfort in being around her. She can handle many things, however, as soon as it comes to something big(like a tsunami) she is afraid of how people might think of her or what they would say to her.
