Too Late
When we first lay eyes on each other,
I instantly liked you.
You smiled, and I smiled,
both showing our pearly whites.
For days and days after, we hung out and played;
we ate and slept.
You were so sweet to me,
and I didn't understand why.
Then, that one day after that day,
I began to like you more and more
and then…
Love.
I did not think you knew,
but I knew.
Why couldn’t I tell you?
I wish I would have let you know then
instead of now
because the thought of you being gone hurts.
You’ve gone to an unpleasant place,
away from my presence.
How does it feel to touch those cold steel bars?
I don’t like it either.
Still six years later,
I am wondering
why I didn’t tell you then
instead of now.

The short story entitled "Still Missing Him" written by Michelle LaMarca inspired me to write about a close friend who I recently lost because of his poor decisions. It helped me realize how much we cared for each other so I decided to write it down on paper.
