Sleep
The heads nodded, slowly bobbing
The heavy eyelids begin to close,
The scribbles between the notebook pages,
The thunk on the table.
Head resting on hand,
Covering the closing eyes
Elbows sliding off desk,
Heads swaying left to right.
The bell rings, eyes open,
There are five minutes left.
Going back to sleep,
The voices continue to drone, drone, drone…
Feet shuffling, bags hitting
The last bell has ringed.
Eyes opened, heads pop up,
Sauntering out the room, feeling good.
