Color Theory
Red stared silently
But her spirit was fuming and I couldn’t get her to simmer down
No matter how deep my cobalt hue turned
I was no match for her brilliant appearance
Her fiery presence was what I craved
It seemed to complete my mellow shade
See, what I didn’t know was that orange was close by
With a lift of the shoulders and a sigh,
orange accepted that I wouldn’t turn to see her sunshine face
I would be too busy primarily focusing on the other
While orange would never get to complementary me on my cool color
We would cancel out the chaos, combine and make a grey scale sequel
It wouldn’t be exciting our combination dull
I would look back at red, her presence sultry and enticing
I would leave the comfort, almost too comfortable of being complemented
In search for something new, creative
Innovative in retrospect because if I could just combine with red
If I could just combine with her, well
Then we would make violet
