More Than What You See

The path that I've chosen

Isn't easy,

But it's mine to walk alone.

When people look at me,

They can only see my limitations.

For once, I wish

People could actually see me for me.

Not as the girl

Who is physically bound.

Helpless like a wounded dove.

Its hope is,

To be invisible,

To remain unnoticed.

But I find myself longing for more,

Would give anything

To feel the soft soil beneath my feet,

Or to run until my lungs scream

And my feet can't feel the ground anymore.

So I find myself

Wishing upon a star,

In the vast, empty sky.

Praying to a God

That I know is above,

To finally answer my prayers.

Hello everyone,

This is one of my favorite and most personal poems that I've written. It reflects my struggles, and the obstacles that I have had to endure. I hope you all like it!
