I am from Middletown, New York and Watauga, Texas.
From the bubble baths with my baby brother that would make a mess .
I am from the lavender honeysuckles (They tasted sweet like sugar).
I am from the creek by my house,
Where my younger brother and I swam in the warm springs.

I’m from the midgets and giants,
From Karen and Dennis.
I’m from the popping blue eyes of my dad.
I’m from the know it alls,
And the drama queens,
From stop touching that and nickname calling.
I’m from opening one present Christmas Eve,
And waking up early on Christmas to open all my gifts.

I am from two step families that I love equally.
I am from waking up early on weekends to see my dad.
From the big mexican dinners that turn into a mess with my dad,
To an elegant Thanksgiving dinners with my mom.

I’m from the O’Neill and Hilliker’s Branch,
From 3rd helpings and homemade dinners.
From the best PeiPei fruit salad of my mom.
I am from the chef of my mom who I watch cook every night.
I am from the musician of my mom who passed it to my two brothers and I.
I am from the athleticness of my dad who tries to beat me in races.
I’m from the oldies music that we sing along to on long road trips.
I am from the vacations every summer.
I am from the parents that tell me to follow my dreams and they’ll be there to support me.

In the antique room is a chest, that can barely close, with stacks of photo albums.
Looking through each one brought back memories of old and new friends, when my parents weren't divorced, and family member that I miss terribly.
I am from these memories.
I’m the new blossom on the cherry tree making new memories.

I'd never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go. I can't bring myself to regret the decisions that brought me face to face with death.
