The American Dream
The American Dream:
To Escape Communist China.
How I long for my family
Yearning to be in my mothers arms again
Left behind in China
Government made me stay
It would be too easy for us.
To escape conformity
Persecution for owning property and being educated
Neighbors turned against one another
Sounds of false accusations resound in my head
Salty tears trickle to my lips
No one is safe
No food
No Love
No Freedom
No Chance
In her strange arms again
Her youth is gone
I am no longer a child
Years of love lost
A hope for a new future
Security for my children and family
The freedom to live, worship, and speak without fear of punishment and persecution
A chance to build our future
With a future to be rewarded with hard work without government taking
That’s the dream we all wish to Live.
The American Dream
