It’s the sadness, that we can’t see
We pretend to be, who we can’t be.

It’s the truth that we all flee
We, lock the door, with no key
Try to, hide ourselves
But it’s not low key.

Regretful...
Won’t admit it, but life’s dull
We live our lives
Spiteful.

Accept this life because we’re frightful.
It’s said that we’re all eyeful
But, you can’t see reality through the lens of an iPhone.

Live with glee, think we’re meeting angels
But the only joy many feel is in bottles of pain pills.

We put in jails
Those who we believe have failed.

There’s too much jailing
-
There’s too much failing.

Our culture says that the solution is incarceration
For the kids who have struggled with their education.

Putting children in prison is disgraceful
Treating them poorly is at best distasteful.

Teens living, selling the street klonopin
The police pull up and send them to red heaven.

There’s the brothers that don’t know each other.
Each of the sisters wishes she was with her.
There’s the mothers that live like the others.
There’s the father whose relationship with his kid stutters.

I wrote this Free Verse with hip hop in mind. I would love to see someone with musical talent make this into a short song.
