Tulip Festival
Tulips,
Rows on rows on rows
All I can see is rows of colors,
Pink, red, and yellow.
I take my first step into a world of color,
I fear only that I will damage one of the beautiful flowers with my feet.
I walk slowly,
Looking down,
Never up.
I notice that every tulip is different,
Yet they are all so perfect in their own individual way.
I finally look up to see my sister running far in front of me,
I feel bad for her
For she does not get the experience of feeling the warmth that each individual flower brings.
I look down and continue to walk.
I feel a soft touch on my hand,
Looking at my hand,
I see two speckled heart shaped wings flapping back and forth against each other,
I put my hand out and let the butterfly fly away.
I am forced to turn around when I hear my mom call my name
She says it’s time to go.
I walk back to the car slower than I walked out,
I do not want to leave.
I make sure to closely examine every last flower before I get in the car to head home.
As we drive away,
I look at the tulips for one last time.
The multiple colors that the tulips possess are fascinating,
This helps me to realize that even the smallest things in the world are beautiful.
