The doctor tells me my baby has an extra chromosome
Well what exactly does that mean?
Isn't that good that he has extra of something?
Well he shakes his head this means he has down syndrome
Down syndrome how will this affect him?

Well this means he will be different
He will have the most caring eyes
He will laugh at the most simple things
He will trust and look up to you for guidance
He wont overthink life he will just enjoy it
He will be fascinated at all things and appreciate them
When your sad he will make you start smiling
He will have the readiness to accept new people
He will love others more than himself

He will be called different
He will be stereotyped
He will be labeled
He will looked down upon
But he is not down syndrome
He is so much more

This Poem is supposed to show how I look at down sydrome. Not as a disorder, or a mental handicap but as a special trait that makes them unique and beautiful in the best ways possible.
