There was once a moment 

I promise,

where time stood still 

and all hours were spent

devoted to you. 

Where stars 

twinkled above you 

and you couldn't,

you couldn't 

keep your head out of the clouds.

There was once a moment 

when our eyes met 

and melting glaciers 

froze.

Where -

my outstretched hand

sparked resolutions of conflict 

and yours

only worsened them. 

There was once a moment 

when I knew

that one can't exist 

without the other 

and that wrong

cannot exist

without reason 

but as I sleep 

every night, 

I find hope,

in darkness.

There was once a moment 

when I realized 

our unfolding discord 

could never be 

that spring will bud, 

fresh lilies 

will bloom

and as winter melts away

so will we.
