Taught
We were taught how to breathe when we were born,
Soon, we learned manners, words and our bodies worked,
We learned about religion, the religion that our parents or the people around us followed,
Later on, we learned how to speak to other people.
We were taught more when we entered school,
A place that many children stay for 8 hours for 5 days a week.
For the adults' eyes, it was a place to play and learn fun stuff.
But to the childrens' eyes, it was a hellish place.
We were taught to learn things that many of us didn't want to know,
Forced to care about the others around us that treated some of us like trash,
Forced to know about the things on useless tests,
Never know how to work in the real world outside of the prison walls.
We were taught and treated like prisoners,
Many teachers either hated us or didn't care,
There were only rare teachers that actually cared but those only came in high school,
Elementary and middle school were the highest peak of Hell.
We were taught that a lot of us were bullied, punched, sexually harassed,
Many of us were going through the peak of puberty,
With hormones fying and broken hearts everywhere,
Children losing their virginity in the bathroom or the hallway.
We were taught that girls had to listen to the men no matter what,
That we couldn't say no if we didn't want to have sex,
We were taught that boys had to lose their virginity at a young age,
That if they didn't have sex, then that makes him a wussy.
We were taught that to live,
We had to experenice of heartbreak,
Have sex,
Getting pregaent.
We were taught that after we graduate,
The generation after us will learn the same things,
But with computers and tablets,
'That lazyness will get you anywhere.'
They were taught that having sex with multiple people will make you cool,
That getting your girlfriend pregaent is normal,
That going to jail at a young age makes you hotter than anyone else,
That cutting yourself is awesome.
The generation after them, will be taught that they shouldn't be alone all the time,
That if they need help, they should come to someone that loves them,
That they shouldn't hurt themselves,
That they should save their virginity for someone that will be with them forever.
I hope, that my kids won't be like the generation that I was or the one after me,
I hope that my kids will come to me when something is wrong,
I hope that my kids will understand that there is someone that loves them,
I hope that my kids will always know that I love them.
