Couldn't Fight Back
It wasn’t the broken vacuum that made her cry;
it was so much more than that.
It was the bright red flame in his eyes; escaping through his lips.
The fury was shooting out of him like the sun exploded and the Earth was being destroyed,
and the Earth was my safety and it was exploding into a million pieces.
Complete force was used tearing after her through the hallway
It wasn’t that he called her names no human should ever be called by someone who is supposed to love them.
It wasn’t that at all; she was used to that.
It was the heavy weight of a man’s fist,
burning out the fire that was held in his eyes on the back of her head
Broken blinds and broken hearts,
Clocks off the wall and flying remotes.
It wasn’t the yelling or the screaming or the way he was charging at her;
it was the fact that he was capable of that.
He was more worried about being right,
and more worried about being in control
Than the fact that he was hurting people that couldn’t fight back.

What inspired me to write this piece is cases of domestic violence. I hope people read this and realize how much people are really affected by it.
