Darkened Room

I was gone before the birds could fly away
The birds were gone before the echo could fade away
The echo was gone before I could comprehend
That this is in fact my end
Next stop either flames or a new place to begin

In a room so densely darkened
Not even a sliver of light could be smudged in
I lay in darkness awaiting my final judgment
A hand on my shoulder and a raspy voice whispers punishment

Eighteen years far along I came
To be greeted by a destiny of flames
