Under Stress
Underage and already bearing the weight of the world.
Never thought so early in life they would feel this way.
Dreading every day that comes after the next.
Evenings become filled with lifeless papers, lifeless faces.
Reeling under the pressure society has placed upon them.
Study for this!
Take a test for that!
Read this 500 page book!
Eat a proper amount everyday!
Save time for extra curricular activities!
Sleep eight hours every night!
And they never get a break.
Nothing they do is ever good enough.
Xanax glides down their throat every morning
In order to survive this mess of a life, but
Even the strongest of pills can’t bear this overwhelming weight.
Tears falling, they begin to lose all hope.
Yearning for peace, they go to sleep.
Flying… they’re flying,
In dreams they’ve long given up.
Little ones filled with so much imagination.
Light lit up this youth’s eyes, but
Everyone has to grow up eventually.
Dying, unfortunately, has become a part of the process.
