I and Love and Shoe
when she was five years,
she watched Cinderella find her prince,
And swelled up in tears,
but all around her she saw no prince,
No men to love her,
At least none that could fence.
And so her prince daydreams soon faded away,
And Disney created worlds,
Worlds that wouldn't stay,
And love to her did not exist,
love is to put someone above yourself,
and love in this world love could not persist,
So she went to school,
through the wind, leaves, and the slush,
and finally at 16,
she had a crush!
He was kind, with a goofy, wide grin,
And he was smart,
In short the end all, be all, of men.
Than quickly a couple began,
She knew better,
She should have stuck to her plan.
Then he destroyed all she knew,
With three simple words,
“I” and “Love” and “You”.
He got his answer frozen in time,
The room grew quiet,
Restless. Silent. Like a mime.
Inch by inch, day by day.
Things got worse,
Until he was a million miles away.
Nothing's more painful than when love dies,
She was held out in agony,
By the lack of Goodbyes
The story never whole,
No theme music to play,
And never any credits to roll.
Disney told her lies,
that she was so sure were true,
maybe things could have been different,
if she only knew…
love is not a fairytale,
it is quite real,
and it will never be perfect,
It’s just the way you feel.
Cinderella got happily ever after.
But there were stories you never knew,
About the broken hearted village girls,
Who didn’t fit the shoe.
