I am paraphrasing, of course. "My only fear is that when they are turned to loving they will find we are turned to hating." -Reverand Msimangu, Cry, The Beloved Country (a book by Alan Paton)

Dad sits back on the couch

and hits the X on the controller.

The video plays and he

bobs his head along

as the person on the screen

speaks in profound verse.

He doesn’t know what he wants

and he’s stuck in a dead-end job.

He isn’t too sure of himself

and no one else really is either.

The video is over so dad has

nothing else to do but play Xbox.

Sometimes dads can seem like teenagers.

My dad's a little strange sometimes.
