"Most people say about graveyard: 'Oh, it's just a bunch of dead people. It's creepy.' But for me, there's an energy to it that it is not creepy, or dark. It has a positive sense to it." ~Tim Burton

Nothing around but dirt and tumble weeds.
I find myself in my aunt’s trailer,
Awaken from my nap, I was nine.

There he is sitting next to me.
My uncle telling me to relax and be quiet,
I obey, I was nine.

He is no longer gentle or sweet.
He was a terrifying monster,
He took my innocence, I was nine.

Pushed the pain away.
Never told a soul,
Never went back, I was thirteen.

It’s been seven years.
No more hiding, I open up.
The police take action, I was sixteen.

What he did was wrong.
I was young,
He gets arrested, I was seventeen.

I’m still haunted by his cruelty.
He had a court hearing,
He was let go, I’m eighteen.

This is a poem about a true event... That is what inspired me to write it, I needed to share my story with people. Maybe then those that have had similar experiences can get the help they need. STAY STRONG EVERYONE.
