The Temple of Artemis Destructed
Temple of Artemis, built for the goddess of the moon and the hunt.
Columns among columns, historical pictures imprint the roof.
Handcrafted, dubbed impossible.
Years of assembling, the temple destroyed.
But reconstruction begins.
Built on the same site, the second temple assembled,
almost four times the size of the last.
Destroyed in a fiery fury, Herostratus burns down
the second temple for his own fame.
But reconstruction restarts.
Built on the same site, the third temple constructed,
this time of shimmering marble.
Even bigger than the last -- 127 columns,
60 feet high.
Lasting 600 years, demolished by eastern tribes.
But reconstruction ceases…
Now a swamp takes its place.
