Lost In My Mind
  I’m lost in my mind
  Somewhere around the corpus callosum
  Reality’s connection faded away
No longer do I hear the warnings of my conscious
  I’m lost in my mind
  I’ve fallen in the cerebellum
The balance between truths and lies broken
No longer will I speak with sincerity
  I’m lost in my mind
  As I approach the hippocampus
  Memories slowly dissolve
I can no longer remember who I was
  I’m lost in my mind
I’ve made a mistake in the medulla
  My heart’s ceased to beat
No longer does life’s rhythm pulse through my veins
I’m lost in my mind.

This month in poetry club we have been exploring the introspective poems of Sylvia Plath and writing our own. But as a directionally challenged person, I lost my way while looking within. I am also passionate about psychology, so I decided to take a different approach to introspection by combining my poor sense of direction with several parts of the brain. I hope some of the other lost people out there and poetic psychologists will enjoy this poem.
