I Lay Here
I lay here in deep rest,
Not worrying about a bullet busting through my chest.
I lay here and dream,
blocking out the loud scream
I lay here with my arms crossed,
waiting for a grenade to be tossed
I lay here with my gun by my side,
dreaming of where to run and hide
I lay here with my helmet off,
in the distance the bombs go off
I lay here on the grass,
waiting for this horror to pass
I lay here on the ground,
wishing i was a kid so i can run around
I lay here with my AK-47
having flashbacks from when i was eleven
I lay here in deep rest,
hoping for the best.
