I am a female.
I am paid less than a man,
for the same job.
I am at a higher risk to be murdered by my spouse than by a stranger.
My gender is the least protected kind of person on this earth.
My gender makes up 98% of human sex trafficking.
My body is a political topic up for debate,
where only middle aged men’s opinions matter.
According to statistics, between my mother, sisters, and I,
one of us will be sexually assaulted.
Most of the world considers my body an item even though,
all of our bodies are the same.
Male and female bodies are the exact same except for the reproductive organs,
Yet one body is treated so different from the other,
being sexualized and mistreated.
As a female, I am subjected to give my body to the opposite sex.
As a female, I was raised for marriage to be my number one goal.
Why do we teach females that marriage is the ultimate gift but we do not raise boys with this same value?
As a female, I was raised to be weak. I was taught that I cannot be strong
because that is the boy’s “responsibility” or “job”.
As a female, I was raised to be saved. I was raised watching movies where the girls could not save themselves,
only the men could save them.
Many when reading this and the facts presented to them, will say that I am a feminist.
I do not classify myself to any group,
I only classify myself as a human.
And as a human, I want to be treated like one,
with equality.
People mistake this belief of wanting to be equal by believing that “I am better than men”, “Men are useless”, “I believe men is what is wrong with the world”, etc.
I do not believe in any of these statements.
The only thing I believe in, is that equality and fairness is a right for all humans,
no matter what reproductive organs you were born with.
I believe that cat-calling should not be a “normal thing” that men can do.
I believe that I should feel comfortable walking to my car when it’s dark outside and not scared of being raped, kidnapped, or murdered.
I believe that I should feel comfortable while being at school,
not scared of being cat-called in the hallway,
again.
I believe that females should feel comfortable saying “no” to men without the fear of being killed.
I believe that the female species should be treated like humans with fairness and equality, because we are humans.
I am not my weaknesses,
I am not a weak princess who needs to be saved,
I am not my body.
I am my actions.
I am my soul.
I am, a female.
