My Dear Friend
I loved her laugh, it was contagious.
Her smile could flip my frown.
The words she spoke could heal my heart.
Her eyes gleamed like a lake on a sunny day.
That hardworking spirit, it inspired many.
I loved her humor, it helped me forget.
Our companionship comforted each other through the hard times.
Her heart was an open door swinging wide.
I loved her heart, it loved without bounds.
Our whispers agreed with each other.
The steadiness she provided was my rock.
I loved her, now I miss her.

I hope that people are able to relate to this piece. I lost a friend last year to cancer. She was 16 and almost 17. She passed away only a couple of days before her birthday. She had a very positive influence on me and we were really just becoming best friends and hanging out more before she was hospitalized. Losing a friend at 16 was really hard. I felt like a part of me went missing. The poems I have written are mostly inspired by her because she was such an amazing person with such a huge personality and even a year later she has impacted my life greatly.
