Hostility Over Hospitality

It’s not the unequal treatment,
and it’s not the lack of respect.
It’s being related with no relations.
It’s having two handfuls of siblings,
with no friendship.
Three parents and zero interest;
it’s living with those of blood
but love is the last thing that
runs through our veins.
Where engagement is foreign
and encouragement tastes like pennies.
It’s the deprivation of confidence because
we keep our lives confidential.
A home is where you grow,
but we’re crumbling faster than
this house's foundation.
