Mrs. Kemp
English,
I was never truly fond of it,
Until your class.
You introduced me to a
world that gave me,
a totally different perspective;
a higher one.
One where everything is put together,
like a jigsaw puzzle.
In this puzzle,
Your imagination and self beliefs
form the picture.
My picture is poetry.
When you introduced poetry
to me,
It were as if you gave me the key,
to the jail cell of my own emotions.
You gave me a new way to express,
My dark, morbid, and unorthodox
thoughts.
And for that I thank you...
Whenever I feel a wave of emotion crash
over me,
I gather my composure,
find my notebook,
and let the pen bleed the words I feel.
Today,
The wave of emotion that engulfed me was,
Gratefulness.
For I am grateful that I could end,
My high school experience,
With a teacher who,
Ripped open the eyelids of naïve children,
And showed them a taste of the real world.
For that is the lesson that no teacher but,
You, dares to cover.
You taught us to do what makes us happy,
But don’t waste your time.
You taught us it’s ok to be,
Different.
Mrs. Kemp,
If people ask me who inspires me the most,
I will simply tell them it’s
You.
You’ve inspired me every time we’ve had,
Poetry and book talks.
But what truly inspired me was,
How much you actually care about what you do.
Thank you for everything you’ve done.
Sincerely,
Jesse Feimann
