We Never Knew
We long for the days full of laughter and fun.
Cry for the lost moments with the ones we loved.
Pray for the discipline that we tried so desperately to reject.
We wake up with regret.
The bitter
Sour
Harsh
Regret that invades our minds
Everyday in this world.
The truth torments us,
Guilts us.
Ones that we once knew are gone.
Taken by the roaming demons
That capture those who try hopelessly
To do good.
Who try to instill kindness into the world.
But the others have taken over.
They are the leaders now.
For no amount of logic, sense, truth
Can overpower them.
Nothing can change them and
Their recalcitrant ways.
But how could we ever foresee
the amount of horror they would do?
For we never knew.

I wrote this poem after reading an article about today's society. It talked about the saveragery and innocence still living in the world, just like in famous novels and literature. Although it was somewhat frighening to think about, living in such a world, understanding the works of it inspired my thinking process while writing this poem.
