I Am Feeling
I Am
Sadness is saying goodbyes.
It’s the loneliness of an empty room.
It’s the untold, the unfinished
Of those I never knew,
Of those who’ve changed.
Sadness is the past.
Fear is the darkness.
Something that can swallow you whole
Replacing your lungs
With water.
It’s the stillness of a body
The blankness of a mind.
It wraps around you
And squeezes
Until you forget.
Fear isn’t always meant to be overcome.
Anxiety is your heart forgetting how to beat.
It’s the unexpected
The unprepared.
It’s when your mind is bursting
With words
But your throat refuses
To let them free.
Anxiety is the unknown.
Joy is a paper,
Filled with stories
Or awaiting one.
It’s a dimly lit stage,
A multi-colored display,
And the tapping of shoes.
It’s the familiar
That never turns out as expected.
Joy is a journey.
