A Long Walk Home
Soldiers,
zooming bullets,
black clouds from raging bombs,
and a smell
that reeks of war.
As a brother in arms
falls to onto the desert floor,
another soldier shall be there
ready to carry his brother home.
The weight of his brother seems almost unbarible
and the extracting sun continue to bring on challenge
and seat-dripping bodies.
Oh, how amazing
to see an unimaginable task be done
by such a determined mind.
Because in a place like this,
that’s what’s needed.
With a little hope, faith,
and will power on the side.
This is where ‘I think I can’
turns into ‘I know I can.’
Even with many miles til home
this soldier will never give up.
Because family is family,
no matter what the cost.
