Why not?
Why not say “I can” or “I’m confident”,
Why not? Why not do what they say cannot be done.

Why not tell them to f*** off,
Tell them you do as you please and orders aren’t an option,
Tell them you will accomplish that today,

Why not tell them you’ll reach the stars despite the pain,

For that guy who's scared to talk to that girl in his class,
Why not walk up and say hello, and see how that goes,

For that sensitive girl with the low self-esteem and a blade,
Why not put that down and yourself better.
Why not?
Why not go for what you want, besides that pain in your chest,
Why not tell the one you love how you feel,
Say I love you, Why not?

Because trying leads to getting or failing,
But if failure isn’t an option, then that leaves one path,
Than you leave satisfied because of success.

Why not?

If you can’t reach for your dreams now,
Where will you be later on,
Why not go for them?

If you really want it, then why not,
Happiness is never what it seems,
It sometimes can never truly be reached,
Reaching for your dreams helps your needs and helps to be happy,

Why not?

I once heard a man doing a spoken word poem,
With pretty much the same message,
Say yes.

He said “That course you wanted to take, take it.”
“That rule you wanted to break, break it.”
“That pepperoni pizza cake you wanted to bake,
Send me a slice and I’ll tell you how it tastes.”

So, basically, all I’m trying to spread is the message,
Go for what you want,
Why not?

I was inspired to say “Why not?” when someone else said why? I questioned the things that seemed to bother teens the most. It all just seemed to flow into the same ideal. The suicide and depression that reaches out and takes hold of some of those girls in class. Those kids who are scared to reach for their dreams, because they were told no. The guy who was scared to tell the girl he fell in love with how he felt.

“Why not?” started out as a really simple idea. Just reach for the stars and do what you want. Dreams are all we truly have to think about. But if not dreams, then what’s on your mind? Exactly. That’s what “Why not?” was trying to say the entire time. This was strictly inspirational, I just wanted to help.
