winter nights
A cold december night
snow drifted down
like feathers
the snow
a blanket
that lie on
the dead grass beneath it
my sister and I trudged across the blanket
making imprints in the pure, white snow
the snow laid there
on the swings
untouched
until they met my sister
she carelessly brushed the snow
off the swing
i watched as the snow fell
onto the pile
that was already there
I followed her
pushing the snow off the swing
plopping down on the green swing
starting to pump
thinking about what to do tomorrow
play with barbies?
build a snowman?
not a care in the world
never did I think that would change
