The Walk
Walking off the field proud inside
But disappointment all around
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t adding to it
But walking into friends and the families changes you
It lifts you
Just the slightest
Just enough to make you crack a smile
It’s funny how just a few people,
A few faces can change your attitude
But when you’re done and walking into the parking lot,
Is when everything goes back to normal,
Your mind changes,
It switches back to the game
What could I have done differently?
Is there anything you can correct?
All these questions go through your mind
Your attitude changes
Back to disappointment from the evening events
Then starts the long and quiet drive home
