I wonder how many times
ive stood in the shower
like I am now
thinking

thinking about what
I think about in
the shower

about the steaming
glass and running
water into a drain

but im thinking about
how often I think of
déjà vu in the shower

which coincidentally
causes déjà vu

about the friends you’ve
made and the friends
we were

how I’ve really
been left in
the dirt

but that’s okay too
because water cleans dirt
swirls it into a drain

which empties into
some larger reserve
of waterswept dirt

what im trying to say is
that I think in the shower
about how you left me for
other people

but it is something im okay with
in fact it is something I knew was
happening and would happen

it just so happens that in
the end we’re happy really
with what we end up with

and no matter how many
times I think about this, about
how I tell myself we’ll be happy with
what we end up with

I cant help but not believe
it everytime and I resent you
and I resent myself

but I don’t resent the shower
the shower does exactly what
it is supposed to do

I think of things on my own accord
