Just Like You
If I ever did tell you the truth
I bet you would laugh it off and say
"It is not like you tried hard enough."
And I will probably say
"You are right, I'm sorry."
Is it the sound of my heart crushing down into pieces
Pieces so small that the heart will never look the same way it did before
Some tiny pieces left behind in the corners
You say I am unlike you
Very much so that it is almost amusing
With a tone of voice
That leaves a scar in my eardrums
I spent my childhood chasing for the remnants of you in myself
Saw the pleasure in hearing
"You are just like your mother."
And now I look just like you
Talk like you
Act like you
But with an extra trait
A chilled heart
