A New Future

This new future's face,
A thing of beauty,
A thing of hate.
The control,
The control you lust for
To set a future -
One more pretty, more daring -
Into play. To erase the past,
A task,
Quite a task,
And start over.
Start over fresh,
Start over again.
No more regrets,
No more sin.
But wait -
When did you ever get the jurisdiction to decide
What went wrong
Or what went right?
Fate decides.
You cannot build a new future,
Nor escape the past.
You can build a new future ahead
With hope,
With luck,
Hand in hand.
