Today in our society
Life has been given
A different definition

Instead of adventures
And traveling to new places
Life is now controlled

Controlled by screens
Lit up with social media
Locking us up from the world

Teens instead of talking,
Text, tweet, and post,
Their lives directed by phones

People say our generation is doomed,
That we don’t know how to really live,
I believe them

Life shouldn’t be disciplined by electronics
People  need to explore,
See what really matters in this world

While people fuss over Caitlyn Jenner,
Thousands of children die in Africa
Women are getting raped in India

People are too distracted
From what really matters
The dress, or child trafficking which is more important

My generation needs to see the light
We must realize that our problems
Are minor, compared to foreign ones

I don’t want to live life dictated by the internet
I want freedom to venture out and do my own thing
Without influence from my phone

When I die I don’t want to think about
The countless hours I spent on my phone
I want to remember great experiences
We have the choice to break free,
I want to make a difference in the world
How about you?

But nothing can be accomplished
When your best friend is a phone
So look up, see the world around you

Change the definition of life,
Before it is too late,
The answer is simple, rebel this life
