Spring.

At first, He was just a pretty distraction
Something to drown out all the yells,
Or to fill the void of screaming silence.

  But that small little ripple
Turned into a great big wave,
  Splashing,
  And seeping,
  And softening her heart.

Summer.

  Without a warning,
  He would invade her thoughts.
  She would replay every memory
  Every conversation, every passing glance,
  Everything about Him,
Over, and over, and over again.
  She remembered every single word.

Fall.

All the while she was floating on Cloud Nine,
  She never noticed Her.
How She would always catch His eye,
And make up every excuse to be near Him.
While she wondered if He noticed her,
He was already under Her spell.

So when she found Them together,
It rocked and shook her very core.

Winter.

  Of course.
  She should have known.
How could a guy like Him ever fall for a girl like her?

After all, a nasty voice whispered to her,
  You’re just an insignificant Nobody.

  You’re worthless,
  Ugly,
  Fat,
  Poor,
  And Stupid.
Oh, what a Stupid Little Girl she was.

  With each insecurity,
  She fell deeper and deeper,
Into a pit of self-loathing and destruction.

  But eventually,
By some miracle or act of God,
  She dug her way out.

Spring.

At first, she didn’t want to.
In a world where everything was always changing,
That dark swirling pit was the only constant in her life.

But then she remembered what it felt like
To have the sun shine on her face,
And to smile, a real smile
Not one faked to reassure strangers.

That memory filled her with longing and regret.
How much time had passed since she saw Them?
Did she really want to lock herself away forever?
Over a boy she thought she loved?

  (Did she love him?
  She convinced herself she did,
  But in reality,
She didn’t know a thing about love.)

  And so she left.
  Left the pain of rejection,
Left the heartbreak, the tears and the sorrow
And left that terrible life behind.

She stepped out of the shadows,
  And into the Light.
