Desolation
The disconcerting silence of this once-exhilerating life
Has now casted a malediction upon my being,
Causing me to grow more laconic than I previously was.
My mind occupied the void once filled
By a plethora of resonant hums emitted by the metropolis
With a chaotic maelstrom of thoughts.
Under no circumsstances have I come to presuming this outcome,
So I now prowl aimlessly in the shadows
Of this devastatingly destroyed world,
Safeguarding myself from the monsters spawned from Hell -- humanity --
With a barricade composed of every fragment of vigor
I am competent of mustering up
When they strike me with an onslaught of emotions.
