Reasons
I find myself tracing your name over
and over and over again.
My notes, my homework, my everything
are all covered - no, embroidered - with those letters
and you're the reason I had to go to Target
because all my pens died inking out your name.
My handwriting’s not that great
but for some reason, your name looks
best sketched out by my hands.
I find myself thinking about you over
and over and over again.
My thoughts, my dreams, my everything
are all filled - no, blessed - with your presence
and you’re the reason my teacher yelled at me
because my head was stuck in the clouds thinking about you.
She gave me detention for it
but you were dressed in white and I was in a tux
and it was so worth it.
I find myself acting like a child over
and over and over again.
I never signed up for this but
you got me feeling like a fifth grader with his first crush.
I’m stumbling, stuttering, spilling out words in spurts,
Looking like a fool and it’s you.
It’s all because of you.
