The Closer
I am the closer
the one people fear
I inspire stories of
an ever ongoing labyrinth
as their thoughts slip
deeper and deeper into the void.
I am alone
quiet as night
always there
awaiting your time
your inevitable end
those terrifying last moments.
Tick
Tock
You can feel safe
with your meek little dream catchers
of tiny blue beads and twine
living your careful life of bliss and denial,
HA!
How lucky one must be to live with no fear
lucky to be hiding in the light.
I
Am always
There;
hiding and waiting
watching for the moment
when your thoughts slip.
Oh, how the feeble minded lie.
They already know me,
have already accepted me
have no other way to hide me inside.
You feel my tight grip expanding through your mind.
I
Am always
There.
Tick
Tock
Feel the sweat drip across your now
furrowed brow.
Tick
Tock
It’s time,
you and I both know
it can't last much longer.
As time flies by
we sit.
You talk as I sit in pride.
You slip and admit my presence;
It was time.
We sat there in silence
listening to the black creep upon us.
Tick
Tock
I am the closer,
awaiting to guide you through the blackness
of the sticky morass I call home.
Your still moist, warm, breath swirles around
my cold chill as we stand.
Toe to toe,
face to face,
and we go.
For I am the closer
and I await your end.
