It is real life
We are the characters in our story
Our God made the world in seven days
We can unmake the world in seven days

Our clocks hands stick at noon
We live the same lives over and over
We are all being raised the same
Into this same world that never changes
Our words are like elevator music
Poor imitations of the original, same song

We must reinvent Adam and Eve
We must have children different than the ones before
We must lead our heroes to safety

We must reinvent the old race
Before we ruined this race
Before we were mechanized
Before we stopped bleeding
Reinvent old stories
Reinvent the hard workers
Reinvent ancient times
And to do this
It will be like a child’s first step across the room
