Farewell, Nobody
  High into the horizon
  on a dreary, somber day
  stands a bulky, rigid cliff.
  Dandelions, wild flowers, rocks
  -the only thing he sees
on the path up to say farewell.
  Below his feet
  is the rocky, sandy pebbles
  crumbling every step.
  Waiting for a phone call
  that he may not receive
for someone to abort his mission.
  Leaping into the air
  like a frog hopping from
  lilypad to lilypad.
  And there he lays
  all nuzzled with dirt
  from top to bottom.
  Ambulance racing his way
  only to find out
  there’s nothing they can do
  –but cover him with sheets.
