Holiday Hope
Children crawled to their stockings,
waiting for Mr.Claus.
Suddenly there came a tapping
and stillness swept through...
Could it be?
Santa on his way?
By the tree,
their eyes glistened
The chimney danced and swayed;
Santa ventured on his way,
The fire creeped out,
and he was approaching,
but the chimney halted.
The fire flew back,
but, back on the rack
the cookies finished cooking.
The cookies still there,
with no presents left.
The children pondered,
but then mother advised:
It’s time to sleep,
and have sweet dreams,
so don’t you peep,
or you get coal and jeans.
