Ode to Summer

The trees swaying to the wind’s song

The sunlight beating on my face

The aroma of the barbeque

Smiles spread like flowers in a field.

The beach,

Soft sand spread like a blanket

The white caps crash on the shore

The chill of the breeze.

I look at the turquoise ocean,

Surfers paddle out

Glide on the waves

And repeat the routine again.

I look at the smooth sand,

I feel the small and rough grains

I take a deep breath in

And savor the moment.
