The coarse dry corn stalks
Rustling in the wind
A flock of crows squawking
Screeching singing metallic black
The biting combine chomping
Dusty cobs and kernels
The sharp crisp leftovers
Sputter out the back
Desolate field in a moonlit sky
Bitterly crisp wind
Numbing the earth
Asleep until it thaws
Setting the tables with
Farm fresh meals
To feed the stomachs
Of hungry citizens
Around the world
