~Dust~
Dust
My heart is racing
because I saw light today in the darkness of your eyes.
You said I was flawless.
You looked at the freckles upon my face,
took my every disconnected piece and made me your constellation.
You told me you wished you could connect each one until I was whole.
You made me yours and filled the void within my heart.
You told me not to fear the night
because in the dark is when stars shine brightest.
But the thing about stars
is by the time we see their light
they’re already dead.
You taught me how to shine
just to leave me in the shadows.
You promised to keep me glued together
but I still shattered.
You took my broken pieces
and crushed them.
They are fragments of pain and loss
that can’t be put together.
Like stars these broken pieces will still shimmer.
But underneath this bright facade
I’ll always be dead.
