We are strong and brave
yet they give us no respect.
The Black Hills is the home of my people
?and they try taking it away.?
The White man is prejudice against us because the color of our skin
yet we mean no harm.
We are different yet we are the same.
Both being human.
Our language is Lakota and this confuses them.
Just because it's different, doesn't make it wrong.

The Battle of Little Big horn ?was?
bloody
and
long.
Many lives sacrificed.
Loved ones gone.

Everything changed and ?we had no control.?
Suddenly forced to follow the American rules.
They made the children sit in classrooms.
Forced to change their name if they wanted to participate.
Which was even more wrong.
"Have you chosen a name yet Ohiysea?

Sitting Bull was ?our proud leader of the Sioux.?
He taught us the way of our ancestors and
helped keep our traditions alive.
They can take away our land but ?they can't take away our pride.?
We are strong and brave.
